and according to WIKIanswers
It sucks is often used interjectionally in a bad situation. If a rock fell on your toe, you'd scream, "THAT SUCKS!" Or if you were watching a boring show on television, you'd say, "This show sucks!" or, alternatively, "This show sucks ." Saying something "sucks" is somewhat vulgar, but very common place, even more so than curse words.
Alternative words to consider: Bucks, blows, bites.
("This blows!")
It should also be noted that the noun after sucks is generally a body part.
"It sucks" is a phrase usually said when a person does not like what he or she hears, sees, or sometimes they use it on themselves or other people.
Examples:
"I suck at bowling" might be used by somebody who says he is not good at bowling.
"I think you suck at Algebra" might be used by a person that thinks that his friend is not good at Algebra.
"Can't we go somewhere else? This place sucks." could be used when somebody does not like the place he is in.
The word "suck" should not be used very often. It is sometimes considered vulgar or improper.
Originally, it was a mild insult, putting someone down. It came from the idea of piercing a hole ( or two at either end ) of an uncooked egg, and then sucking or blowing the raw egg outside of the shell, without cracking the shell. Thus the empty eggshell could then be used in some craft activity.
Since no one liked the idea of having to eat an uncooked egg ( Yukk !! ), " Go suck an egg !" became a popular male slang insult, similar to " Go fly a kite !"
Then its use and meaning decayed and degenerated into the sexual ' blow / suck ' usage termed " Dirty English ".
Today's over-usage is much more disparagingly insulting, to the point of a socially unacceptable vulgarism, yet very popular among both sexes of the great unwashed and uneducated.
Actually, i believe ths terminology has been derived from, and then degraded from an expression used at the turn of the 20th century. People with a sour or angry expression were often described as "looking as if they had been sucking on a lemon." It then evolved into a more active phrase"Aw, go suck a lemon." and continued to degrade into it's current even more unpleasant and more non-specific form.
